CONDITIONS OF THE COMPETITION

CHAMPIONSHIP DIVISION – The Invitational Champion will be the competitor posting the lowest individual 54-hole score within this Division. Upon completion of play on Saturday, this division will be divided into a Championship flight (approx. 20 competitors) and additional flights as determined by the Tournament Committee, for the final round. Play for this division will be from the BLUE TEES. 

Dr. Hamp Greene, III Collegiate Cup – Collegiate Four-ball competition recognizing the low two-man team, total score for 54 holes.

MID-AMATEUR CHAMPION - Competitors 25-plus years old, competing in the Championship Division, will also compete for prizes and recognition as the first Invitational Mid-Amateur Champion.

FOUR-BALL – Competitors 25-plus years old, electing to compete in 36 hole four-ball stroke play. This division will be divided into flights based on score (or age) as determined by the Tournament Committee. Upon completion of play on Saturday, flights will be established. A Senior Four-ball Division for competitors 65 and older with play from the GOLD TEES. Prizes will be awarded for team score only; competitors are not required to post an individual score for each hole, but team score on each hole must be attributable to an individual competitor on the team's scorecard. 

PRIZES – Gift certificates and crystal trophies will be awarded to the individuals/teams recording the lowest totals in a given flight. All gift certificates must be redeemed on or before December 31, 2015. 

METHOD FOR DECIDING TIES: Should a tie exist at the end of 54 holes for the Invitational Championship, a sudden death play off will commence immediately following play starting on #18 tee. Competitors will continue to hole #1 should a tie still exist and alternate until a winner is determined. Ties for the Files Crenshaw Medalist Trophy, and each of the flight, Mid-Amateur and Four-ball prizes will be decided by the method recommended by the USGA, Appendix I, “How to Decide Ties,” in the Rules of Golf. 

INCLEMENT WEATHER: The tournament committee will make all decisions regarding altering the format to complete play due to inclement weather. Should inclement weather force cancellation of a round the tournament will be shortened to 36 holes and flights and the medalist winner will be determined after the first 18 holes are completed.

The 2015 USGA Rules of Golf will govern play for the Invitational. In addition, please refer to the Local Rule Sheet for additional rules and information.

Friday, August 14th – Tee times begin at 8:00 a.m. A complimentary lunch is available in the Casual Dining Room from 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM. $2,000 HOLE in ONE CASH PRIZE for all Par 3's (except Four-ball participants playing Friday practice rounds).
           

The "First Round Scoreboard Cocktail Party" will begin at 6:00 PM with open bar until 7:30 PM
Call MCC for dinner reservations in the Casual Dining Room (dining will be at participant's expense)

Sunday, August 16th – Final Round Shotgun Starts at 8:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., determined by previous day scores, and with Four-ball Division first. A complimentary lunch is available in the Casual Dining Room from 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM. The Invitational Awards Ceremony will immediately follow the conclusion of play, with complimentary cocktails for participants and their guests. $2,000 HOLE in ONE CASH PRIZE for all Par 3's.           

DAILY – Continental breakfast will be available each day from 7:00–9:00 a.m., and soft-drinks, Gatorade, assorted snacks, and fruit will be stationed around the course. Beer and other alcoholic beverages are available by reciprocal charge or cash payment at refreshment stations. Full breakfast will also be available on Saturday and Sunday in our Casual Dining Room, by reciprocal charge or cash payment. 

PROFESSIONAL SERVICES – The MCC golf staff will be delighted to store and clean your equipment each day after play; shoe cleaning will be available in the Men’s Locker Room. See club staff for details. 

DRIVING RANGE (7:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.) Please observe rules regarding safety. Range balls are NEVER to be intentionally hit toward the green on hole #6 or to the left of the yellow flag positioned in the center of the Range, or to any point beyond the yellow flag while players are driving carts or walking on holes #5 & #6.

Local Rule Sheet and Competitors Notes


Play is governed by the 2014 USGA Rules of Golf and its decisions and where applicable, by the following Local Rules. 
Competitor Notes: 
  1. Play the ball as it lies throughout the tournament.
  2. DISTANCE MEASURING DEVICES: A player may obtain distance information by using an electronic device that measures distance. 
  3. The EMBEDDED BALL RULE is in effect “Through the Green”.
  4. Should you need a ruling during play, and a rules official is not present, proceed under Rule 3-3, Doubt as to Procedure, and upon completion of play, report the facts to the Tournament Committee before signing your scorecard. 
  5. SHELTERS. Shelters are located on holes #7 and #14 for your convenience. Refreshments and restrooms are provided at each of these locations.
  6. CELL PHONE USAGE. We strongly encourage competitors to place their cell phone on silent mode during a competition round. 
LOCAL RULES 
  1. OUT OF BOUNDS: Is defined by white stakes and other specific areas defined below. Areas designated to be out of bounds are located on holes 1,3,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13,15,16,17 and 18. Fences and walls marking the perimeter of club property shall define the boundaries of the golf course. The tennis courts, clubhouse area beyond cart paths on hole #18, and entrance road and parking lot areas are out of bounds.

            HOLE #8. For a competitor playing the first stroke from the tee on hole #8, a ball that comes to rest to the left of the cart path on hole #7 is deemed to be OUT OF BOUNDS         
                             and Rule 27 applies. The margin shall be the left edge of the cart path on hole #7, up to the end of the white line and stakes.

2. TIME OF STARTING: The note under Rule 6-3, p. 27, will be in effect.

  1. PRACTICE: Practice on the competition course is prohibited during the competition.
  2. SUSPENSION OF PLAY DUE TO A DANGEROUS SITUATION. If play must be suspended due to inclement weather the tournament committee shall sound a siren several short times to discontinue play. All competitors MUST discontinue play IMMEDIATELY and seek shelter. All practice facilities shall be closed during the suspension of play. Play will be resumed by sounding one long siren.
  3. GROUND UNDER REPAIR: Defined by enclosed white lines. Other areas of ground under repair , even though not so marked, include:
                      - Newly planted trees supported by wires.
                      - Mandatory relief from a flowerbed bordered by cobblestones on hole #2, #4 and #9. 
                      - French drains filled with stones or the like. 
                      - Fire ant beds and mounds. 
                      - New Sod Seams (for lie of ball only) 
                      - Unmarked tire tracks. 

       6. WATER HAZARDS. Water hazards are signified by yellow (water hazard) or red (lateral water hazard) stakes. Stakes shall identify and              lines define. On hole #2 & #5, the water hazard margin is the water-side edge of the concrete wall.
